The individual flower heads of a fuschia are not called florets, are they?

Just checking.
The individual flower heads of a fuschia are not called florets, are they?
No florets are actually each a flower in a compound flower head like an aster. While petals are found in the corolla of a single flower.

Fuschias have four long, slender, sepals and four shorter, broader, petals in many species.
Reply:They have four sepals and four petals, the flower of the fuschia. Also, welcome to the botany top 10 list to the first answerer. There are around 100 species of the plant. Florets are actually clusters of individual flowers. This one is is all one flower at a time on each stem. They seem to call florets inflorescence here on this link.
Reply:%26quot;Flowers usually showy, axillary or in termial racemes or panicles, mostly pendulous, rather fleshy, in various shades of red to purple and white, calyx tubes campanulate or tubular, sepals 4, petals 4, rary 0, stamens 8, often exserted, ovary inferior, style long, exserted.%26quot; From Hortus Third. If a flower has both male and female parts, does that mean that they are all transvestites?

No they would be considered hermaphrodites not transvestites. A transvestite would be Clay Aiken while a hermaphrodite would be Dennis Rodman.
If a flower has both male and female parts, does that mean that they are all transvestites?
in flowers it is generally not called hermafroditic plant but MONOECIOUS plant (mono=one oecum=house meaning both SEXES in one PLACE).

it is more common than the other type of plants , dioecious, that has male plant and female plants (not only cannabis, but many others as well)

a transvestite plant is a bit of a nonsense, as far as i know
Reply:In order for a flower to be a transvestite, it would have to have only one set of reproductive organs, but enjoy dressing like flowers of the opposite sex. This is fairly rare among flowers.

I believe the word you meant was hermaphrodite, and I suppose you could use that term, but it usually denotes an anomaly, whereas it%26#039;s a normal quality for almost all kinds of flowers. The only exception that I know of is the Cannabis genus, which actually has male and female plants.

Also, hermaphrodites normally only have one functional set of reproductive organs, whereas with flowers, both sets are normally functional and they can even pollenate themselves.
Reply:its called a hermaphrodite. having both male and female sex organs
Reply:No... they are hermaphadites.
Reply:Transvestites are those who change from one sex to another.

You mean hermaphrodites. Yes, they are hermaphrodites, have both male and female counterparts.
Reply:Yes it is true that flowers are hermaphrodites, however they do not necessarily pollinate themselves. The female parts mature faster than the male parts. This encourages cross fertilization, in other words getting pollen from another flower. So they don%26#039;t always pollinate themselves, but yes...they can.White Teeth

Should the flower girls dress be different or similar the the brides gown?

It is your wedding do what YOU want! You can have her match your bridesmaids or match your dress or find a dress that can resemble both, that is what I did. The main part of the dress is the same color as my dress, then there are some bows that are the same color as the bridesmaids. But it is your wedding...
Should the flower girls dress be different or similar the the brides gown?
Hi,

I%26#039;m the owner of http://dollsandstitches.com and http://flowergirloutlet.com . We deal with 100s of weddings and there is one rule. The bride gets what the bride wants! Report It

Reply:I think the flower girls dress should be similar to the brides gown and the bride maids dresses should be different.
Reply:They should be similar but at the same time the bride should be able to stand out alot.
Reply:Different. It should be the same color as the bridesmaids.

Most people are creeped out by the flowergirl having an identical dress as the bride, complete with veil, etc. as alot of brides choose to do becasue that%26#039;s what the bridal salons and magazines tell them they must do.
Reply:I think similar is nicer
Reply:this is completely up to the bride. I chose to have my flower girl dresses match as close as possible to my dress.
Reply:different
Reply:Best for it to match the bridesmaid%26#039;s gowns, after all the flower girl is just a little bridesmaid!
Reply:I%26#039;ve seen both, and both are just fine. I%26#039;ve seen a total replica of the bride%26#039;s dress, but I%26#039;ve also seen where she is a little version of the bridesmaids. This is totally up to you - everything will look great...
Reply:depends.......it depends on waht the bride has in mind!!

and if shes young let her wear whatever she doesnt know n e better!! i mean its not gunna hurt n e thing or n e one!!
Reply:Similar is so cute! but different is good as well.
Reply:It should be different style since a flower girl is usually a younger girl. Go ahead and stick with the color scheme though.
Reply:Similar enough not to look out of place, but not a little replica of the bride%26#039;s dress. Maybe a shade lighter than the bridemaids%26#039; dresses in a cutesy little girl style?
Reply:a miniature bride has a dress similar to the brides gown, a flower girl should follow suit to what the bridesmaids are wearing, but whatever you think looks good is a good choice as well
Reply:you choose mine was different but still whitecomputer

Planting expired flower and vegetable seeds.?

I have some seeds that have expired. The date is 11/07. Should I wast my time planting them or just toss them out. They less than three monthst past thier expiry date.
Planting expired flower and vegetable seeds.?
You will probably have less germination percentage. I have used expired seeds with no problems before.
Reply:Hey Kait,

You have some good answers already. Old seeds that are rare are worth planting past expiration.

At Monticello (Thomas Jefferson%26#039;s home), archaeologists are excavating to see if they can find rare seeds that President Jefferson had hybridized - that was a long time ago - and they think they might revitalize some cultivars that have long since been gone.

So, you should be able to use 3 month old seeds, unless they are infested with bugs.
Reply:That%26#039;s not very far past expiraation. They are still good.

I%26#039;ve had seeds that are 10 years old sprout for me. Enjoy!
Reply:SURE, YOU SHOULD BE OK........
Reply:I like to do a *potluck* patch in my garden. Old seeds, unidentifiable seeds, just a few left, that kind of thing. It is fun to see what comes up! I have mostly done this with flower seeds, it ends up looking like a wild flower mini-meadow. I would not have any problem at all adding vegetables to the mix.

Reply:I would plant them in seedling pots to see which ones are vialble. The pots which have seeds that don%26#039;t germinate can be re-used. The ones that do germinate can be planted in a garden when they are big enough to tolerate the transition.

Good luck.

God bless you.
Reply:I always wondered this same question
Reply:You won%26#039;t get as many plants but then, you won%26#039;t have to thin as many.
Reply:Actually the seeds found in Egyptian tombs were still good and that was what 2000 years old? So I would say yours are o.k.skin disease
