The individual flower heads of a fuschia are not called florets, are they?

Just checking.
The individual flower heads of a fuschia are not called florets, are they?
No florets are actually each a flower in a compound flower head like an aster. While petals are found in the corolla of a single flower.

Fuschias have four long, slender, sepals and four shorter, broader, petals in many species.
Reply:They have four sepals and four petals, the flower of the fuschia. Also, welcome to the botany top 10 list to the first answerer. There are around 100 species of the plant. Florets are actually clusters of individual flowers. This one is is all one flower at a time on each stem. They seem to call florets inflorescence here on this link.

If a flower has both male and female parts, does that mean that they are all transvestites?

No they would be considered hermaphrodites not transvestites. A transvestite would be Clay Aiken while a hermaphrodite would be Dennis Rodman.
If a flower has both male and female parts, does that mean that they are all transvestites?
in flowers it is generally not called hermafroditic plant but MONOECIOUS plant (mono=one oecum=house meaning both SEXES in one PLACE).

it is more common than the other type of plants , dioecious, that has male plant and female plants (not only cannabis, but many others as well)

a transvestite plant is a bit of a nonsense, as far as i know
Reply:In order for a flower to be a transvestite, it would have to have only one set of reproductive organs, but enjoy dressing like flowers of the opposite sex. This is fairly rare among flowers.

I believe the word you meant was hermaphrodite, and I suppose you could use that term, but it usually denotes an anomaly, whereas it%26#039;s a normal quality for almost all kinds of flowers. The only exception that I know of is the Cannabis genus, which actually has male and female plants.

Also, hermaphrodites normally only have one functional set of reproductive organs, whereas with flowers, both sets are normally functional and they can even pollenate themselves.
Reply:its called a hermaphrodite. having both male and female sex organs
Reply:No... they are hermaphadites.
Reply:Transvestites are those who change from one sex to another.

You mean hermaphrodites. Yes, they are hermaphrodites, have both male and female counterparts.
Reply:Yes it is true that flowers are hermaphrodites, however they do not necessarily pollinate themselves. The female parts mature faster than the male parts. This encourages cross fertilization, in other words getting pollen from another flower. So they don%26#039;t always pollinate themselves, but yes...they can.White Teeth

Should the flower girls dress be different or similar the the brides gown?

It is your wedding do what YOU want! You can have her match your bridesmaids or match your dress or find a dress that can resemble both, that is what I did. The main part of the dress is the same color as my dress, then there are some bows that are the same color as the bridesmaids. But it is your wedding...
Should the flower girls dress be different or similar the the brides gown?
Hi,

I%26#039;m the owner of http://dollsandstitches.com and http://flowergirloutlet.com . We deal with 100s of weddings and there is one rule. The bride gets what the bride wants! Report It

Reply:I think the flower girls dress should be similar to the brides gown and the bride maids dresses should be different.
Reply:They should be similar but at the same time the bride should be able to stand out alot.
Reply:Different. It should be the same color as the bridesmaids.

Most people are creeped out by the flowergirl having an identical dress as the bride, complete with veil, etc. as alot of brides choose to do becasue that%26#039;s what the bridal salons and magazines tell them they must do.
Reply:I think similar is nicer
Reply:this is completely up to the bride. I chose to have my flower girl dresses match as close as possible to my dress.
Reply:different
Reply:Best for it to match the bridesmaid%26#039;s gowns, after all the flower girl is just a little bridesmaid!
Reply:I%26#039;ve seen both, and both are just fine. I%26#039;ve seen a total replica of the bride%26#039;s dress, but I%26#039;ve also seen where she is a little version of the bridesmaids. This is totally up to you - everything will look great...
Reply:depends.......it depends on waht the bride has in mind!!

and if shes young let her wear whatever she doesnt know n e better!! i mean its not gunna hurt n e thing or n e one!!
Reply:Similar is so cute! but different is good as well.
Reply:It should be different style since a flower girl is usually a younger girl. Go ahead and stick with the color scheme though.
Reply:Similar enough not to look out of place, but not a little replica of the bride%26#039;s dress. Maybe a shade lighter than the bridemaids%26#039; dresses in a cutesy little girl style?
Reply:a miniature bride has a dress similar to the brides gown, a flower girl should follow suit to what the bridesmaids are wearing, but whatever you think looks good is a good choice as well

Planting expired flower and vegetable seeds.?

I have some seeds that have expired. The date is 11/07. Should I wast my time planting them or just toss them out. They less than three monthst past thier expiry date.
Planting expired flower and vegetable seeds.?
You will probably have less germination percentage. I have used expired seeds with no problems before.
Reply:Hey Kait,

You have some good answers already. Old seeds that are rare are worth planting past expiration.

At Monticello (Thomas Jefferson%26#039;s home), archaeologists are excavating to see if they can find rare seeds that President Jefferson had hybridized - that was a long time ago - and they think they might revitalize some cultivars that have long since been gone.

So, you should be able to use 3 month old seeds, unless they are infested with bugs.
Reply:That%26#039;s not very far past expiraation. They are still good.

I%26#039;ve had seeds that are 10 years old sprout for me. Enjoy!
Reply:SURE, YOU SHOULD BE OK........
Reply:I like to do a *potluck* patch in my garden. Old seeds, unidentifiable seeds, just a few left, that kind of thing. It is fun to see what comes up! I have mostly done this with flower seeds, it ends up looking like a wild flower mini-meadow. I would not have any problem at all adding vegetables to the mix.

(=
Reply:I would plant them in seedling pots to see which ones are vialble. The pots which have seeds that don%26#039;t germinate can be re-used. The ones that do germinate can be planted in a garden when they are big enough to tolerate the transition.

Why is flower important to a plant?

The flower is the Plant%26#039;s reporoductive body:

The biological function of a flower is to mediate the union of male and female gametes in order to produce seeds. The process begins with pollination, is followed by fertilization, and continues with the formation and dispersal of the seed.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flower#Flow...
Why is flower important to a plant?
Flowers are important to a plant for reproduction. Some plants have huge colorful flowers which get pollinated by insects attracted by the nector and the huge colorful petals and when they land on the flower the pollen grains (male gamete) get attached to the insects and when the insect goes to another flower, is might drop them on the stigma and thats where the process of fertilization begins. You might have also seen flowers that are not so conspicuous but have long hairy extensions, well these are the pollen and this time they use the wind to spread the gamete to other plants....

Thanks........hope this helps
Reply:the flower is important to the plant because the flower holds pollen and that is what is needed to make more of that type of plant
Reply:The flower is the most conspicuous part of the plant. Their appeal has encouraged Man to know and possess them, developing such a human technique as gardening. But flowers have not been produced by plants for man%26#039;s sake. They

are beautiful and fragrant to attract pollinators ( insects, birds or bats) which play an important role in the reproductive process of pollinating. Essentially the main function of the flower is to perpetuate the species, to produce seeds from which new plants

will grow in the future.
Reply:My educated guess is that flowers attract the kinds of insects, birds and other creatures that aid reproduction by carrying pollen from plant to plant.
Reply:Hi Jessica,

According to me the flower is actually the reproductive part of the plant! It get the pollen and then produces the fruit which has inside it the seeds. For more detailed information you can go to wikiPedia - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flower
Reply:Um a flower is a plant.
Reply:i think you can compare the relation of a tree and its flowers to that of a woman and her womb. a woman needs a womb to fall pregnent and eventually have childern and reproduce. therefore, a tree needs flowers to help reproduce. the flowers would go through the pollenation period to reproduce as a woman would have sex to end up reproducing :)yahoo finance

Can expired flower seeds, and herb seeds still be planted?

Can expired flower seeds, and herb seeds still be planted?
Put the seeds in a glass of water and let them soak over night. the ones which sink to the bottom are good, the others not and you can throw them away. The ones on the bottom are fertile.
Reply:Don%26#039;t forget, though, that seeds that have been soaked overnight must promptly be planted. They have already begun their regrowth pattern by this process, and if you let them dry out again, they may be ruined for later planting. Be prepared to plant them right away! Report It

Reply:Yes you can. I have seeds dated from the 60%26#039;s that I have planted and have grown better than I expected.
Reply:There should be no problem with the seeds. Most likely the yield would be less, but if they%26#039;ve been stored properly, they should be fine.
Reply:well.

yes you could plant them

doesnt mean they will grow anything
Reply:Yes by all means. However the germination rate will be a bit less. For example, if you have 10 seeds and planted them early, then you might get 9 plants. Now you may get 7, but its still worth a shot. You will know its value in about a week.
Reply:Go ahead and plant your seeds. Most seeds remain viable for several years past the year they were packaged for. You may have a slightly lower germination rate than if you had planted them in 2005, but the flowers will still be as beautiful and smell as sweet, and the herbs will still have just as much flavor as if they had been packaged for this year.

Good luck with your garden.

Reply:There are several ways to help lower your blood pressure. In addition to medication, there are several self-relaxation techniques that can help reduce high blood pressure. Some of these include; guided imagery, deep breathing excesses, pet therapy, etc. It is quite possible that a flower garden could have a therapeutic effect on you and in return make you more relaxed lowering your blood pressure.
Reply:Definitely! When I was taking landscape architecture we learned that small enclosed spaces allow people to reconnect to their spiritual side, and that reduces stress, which in turn, lowers blood pressure (hypertension.)
Reply:hypertension is linked to stress and anything that lowers stress helps in lowering hypertension.anything you find relaxing..gardening,having an aquarium, other pets, meditation etc.

Do Bach Flower Remedies work?

I find that the Rescue Remedy works for me...
Do Bach Flower Remedies work?
My mum swears by the rescue remedy, I have tried it a couple of times but don%26#039;t rate it as much as she does.
Reply:Just as a matter of general information Bach flower essences are not in any way homeopatic. Edward Bach was a practising English physician in the late 19th and early 20th century. Samuel Hahnemann was a practising physician in Germany in the late 18th and early 19th century.

Dr. Bach developed his flower essences in response to the need he say for helping his patients deal with emotional issues surrounding their illnesses - certainly the first well-known physician to make the connection with the importance of the mental state of his patients dealing with physical illness.

Though the %26quot;mentals%26quot; are important in repertorizing homeopathic remedies Dr. Hahnemann%26#039;s work had a definite slant toward healing the physical problems per se. Dr. Bach%26#039;s approach was more to help patients achieve emotional balance so that the body%26#039;s healing forces (now termed immune system) could concentrate the energies toward promoting healing and general health.

Both physicians were seeking to follow the Hippocratic principle of %26quot;nolo nocere%26quot; - first do no harm - in treating their patients as they saw the harm (frequently death was the outcome) of the harsh, aggressive treatments of their time (blood letting, high doses of poisons, etc.).

People certainly have gone beyond Bach developing flower essences in using plants from the Rocky Mountain and Australian Bush. Ian White has developed the Australian Bush essences which he uses for healing of physical problems as much as emotional and spiritual ones.

I have much more experience using them (the flower essences) with animals than personally. I certainly have found them effective.
Reply:well ive tried some and they seem to work for me
Reply:They have their uses. Like all homoeopathic remedies, they work by encouraging the immune system. The results can be very slow - it largely depends on the individual. Try them and see if they work for you.
Reply:I discovered them about 10 years ago and was very sceptical but they worked!

They led me to homeopathy which also works.
Reply:Yes they do. For the disbelievers- continue to drug yourself with Prozac.
Reply:Hi

There haven%26#039;t been any full clinical trials on the actions of the remedies. There was a study done in California as part of a doctoral thesis, but the methodology followed was questionable both in scientific terms and in terms of the assumptions made about the remedies, so we would not produce this study as %26#039;evidence%26#039; even though it claimed to show that the remedies work. And there have been other, small-scale studies in different parts of the world, but again nothing that would convince a determined sceptic.... We don%26#039;t see it as our role to %26#039;prove%26#039; that the remedies work - instead we simply demonstrate how to use them and let people prove the effect on themselves.

%26quot;Flower remedies%26quot;: a systematic review of the clinical evidence.

Institute of Health %26amp; Social Care Research, Peninsula Medical School, Universities of Exeter %26amp; Plymouth, 25 Victoria Park Road, Exeter, EX2 4NT, U.K. Edzard.Ernst@pms.ac.uk

BACKGROUND: Flower remedies (also called %26quot;Bach%26quot; flower remedies) are used by an increasing number of individuals, and many health claims have been made for them. No systematic review of flower remedies has so far been published. AIM: The aim of this systematic review is to summarise and critically analyse the data from all available controlled clinical trials of flower remedies. METHODS: Six databases were searched to identify all controlled clinical trials of flower remedies in humans for any medical condition. No language restrictions were applied. Key data were validated and extracted into table format according to pre-defined criteria. Statistical pooling was not possible, and results were evaluated in narrative form. RESULTS: Four studies met the inclusion/exclusion criteria. Two trials suggested a positive outcome. Those studies that controlled for placebo-effects and minimised selection bias through randomisation failed to demonstrate effects beyond a placebo response. CONCLUSION: The hypothesis that flower remedies are associated with effects beyond a placebo response is not supported by data from rigorous clinical trials.

Efficacy of Bach-flower remedies in test anxiety: a double-blind, placebo-controlled, randomized trial with partial crossover.

Bach-flower remedies are a type of alternative medication used increasingly for over-the-counter self-help purposes. We studied the efficacy of a combination of Bach-flower remedies in subjects with test anxiety in a randomized, placebo-controlled, blinded parallel group design, with crossing over the placebo group to remedies after the first phase. Anxiety was measured by a standardized, validated test anxiety questionnaire (the German version of the Test Anxiety Inventory, TAI-G). Fifty-five of 61 subjects with self-reported test anxiety gave valid data. There was no significant difference between the groups, but a significant decrease of test anxiety in all groups was present. We conclude that Bach-flower remedies are an effective placebo for test anxiety and do not have a specific effect.

Will a flower die if it's roots break off?

i repotted a plant a couple days ago, and the dirt fell when i took it out of it%26#039;s old pot. there were quite a bit of roots broken off, but it still had a good portion of roots. will it die, or can i salvage it?
Will a flower die if it%26#039;s roots break off?
what kind is it??

I don%26#039;t think it should, depending on what kind it was

most of the time when you need to replant something its a good idea to chop off some of the roots if it was really packed in the pot

good luck

and remember to keep it watered

What color flower if this?
As with any flower, a name (i think the one you pictured is champagne) doesn%26#039;t guarantee a specific color everytime. But you will get a generalized color. Nature has a funny way of coloring each and every flower individually. So in this case some %26quot;Champagne%26quot; colored roses look more yellow or some look more pink. I think either way they are beautiful and a lovely wedding bouquet choice!

best wishes.............................
Reply:The first one is light peach colored roses.

The second one looks like a mix of either ivory or white with peach - - or it could just be the shading.

Personally, I like the idea of the bride holding colored flowers and bridesmaids holding white or multi-colored flowers. I think it ensures the flowers you%26#039;ve spent a bundle on will actually show up in pictures.
Reply:I like the first one better. It%26#039;s a pale pinkish peach colored rose. If this is what you want, I would print out the picture and take it to the florist so she can order the right rose color.
Reply:Honestly both of those bouquets look about the same color...but, I think that is a champagne color rose you are looking at.

I want my garden to have flower all summer( canadian ) from spring can some one tell mename of flowers so the?
Most annuals will bloom for you from late spring throughthe first frost. Such as marigolds, impatiens, snapdragons, petunias, etc. Just go to your local nursery and see what annuals they have starting in May.

The downside, is that in exchange for all-season-long blooms, they don%26#039;t live to the next year, and you have to plant again the following year.

If you want a season-long-blooming perennial garden - you have to coordinate things that bloom at different times through the season, so that something is in bloom all the time.

Start with spring flowering bulbs - tulips, crocuses, daffodils, hyacinths, etc. Then get some late spring flowering things, like columbine, lillies, etc. Summer bloomers like Black-eyed Susans (rudbekia), start blooming in July and bloom profusely and continuously through frost. And they spread, nothing bothers them, and they%26#039;re one of the easiest flowers to grow. Also, you can add fall-bloomers like mums and asters. Get the right mix, and you have an ever-changing garden, with something flowering all the time.

You can also tuck some annuals into the spots where your spring flowers have died back, for extra bloomage through the summer.
Reply:My garden is in full bloom from May to Oct. here in US zone 5. I Have spring bulbs tulips, crocus, and hyacinths. I then have many perennials such as delphinium. foxglove, iris%26#039;s, alliums, mums, asters, lavender, bug bane, astilbe, Russian sage, and yarrow. I then top it off with anuals such as African daisies, Persian shield, fan flowers and salvia. I also plant cannas. My garden is always in bloom and attracts many butterflies and hummingbirds. I hope this helps.hairstyles hair style

In a flower how would you describe the ovules attached to the ovary?

%26quot;In flowering plants, the ovule is located within the actual flower, the part of the carpel known as the ovary, which ultimately becomes the fruit. The ovule is attached to the placental wall of the ovary through a structure known as the funiculus, the plant equivalent of an umbilical cord. Different patters of ovule attachment, or placentation, can be found among plants: In parietal placentation, the ovules are attached to the outer ovary wall, whereas in free central placentation, they are attached to a central column within the ovary. In axile placentation, they are attached to radial spokes within the ovary.%26quot;

Does anyone have any home remedies or a solution to taking this out?
I got flower pollen all over my favorite blouse on Saturday so I washed and it wouldn%26#039;t come off!!!!?
I have done this several times. Try putting full strenth detergent on the pollen and let soak for a while and then wash. The only other thing I can think of is maybe hydrogen peroxide. I know this works on some tough stains Another thing to try is goop. It is in the automobile section of places like walmart and is really cheap. A lot of the times it will get grease and other stains out of clothers that have already been dried This is a tough one--good luck.

Does a flower have reproductive organs?

Yes, the stamen and pistil.

Stamen: The male reproductive structure made up of an anther and a filament.

Pistil: A single female reproductive %26quot;unit.%26quot; The pistil typically has three recognizable regions: the stigma, the style, and the ovary.

A %26quot;perfect%26quot; flower has both; an %26quot;imperfect%26quot; flower lacks one or the other.

Reply:most plants have repoductive organs.
Reply:yes it does if u pay attention in school then maybe u will learn that they really do have reproductive organs.
Reply:A flower IS a reproductive organ; that is to say, flowers are the sexual reproductive organs of flowering plants, also called the Angiosperms (keep in mind that not all plants are flowering plants. Ferns, for instance, are in a different group, as are conifers and cycads). Flowers are typically composed of petals on the outside, which are usually, but not always, the flashy colorful part and usually subtended by sepals (typically not as flashy); a whorl of stamens interior to the petals, which are the male part of the flower and contain pollen, which itself contains the plant equivalent of sperm, collectively, the stamens are called the androecium; interior to the stamens are the gynoecium, or the collective female parts of a flower, which include the ovary, ovules (which develope into seeds), and one or more pistils; the tip of a pistil usually has a style, which is where the receptive part of the pistil is located, and this is where pollen lands or is delivered by a pollinator (e.g., bee, hummingbird, bat, butterfly, moth, etc.), and where conception is initiated.computer

Do Geraniums flower once per season?

Our blooms look fried by the sun, although we water them twice a day. Wondering if we can hope for new blooms this summer?
Do Geraniums flower once per season?
from my experience geraniums do repeat flower, but you will have to dead head them to get a good return. Just pinch the stalk back to the next set of leaves. Dead heading will keep the plant bushy instead of leggy.
Reply:They repeat throughout the season. Keeping container plants moist is tough. If they are in clay pots, try putting a larger pot over the clay pot for shade. The sun is warming the pots and hastening soil drying.

You could also have geranium bud worms. Thise are tiny worms that get into flower buds before they open. They are somewhat nocturnal so you may not see them. While the organic Bt, Bacillus thuringensis, will work on these little worms.......if they are outside to eat a sprayed plant part, you have the problem Bt breaks down in sunlight very quickly. So usually Orthene on the flower buds gets them. Yes, it%26#039;s a chemcial insecticide, but how else do you get a bugger inside the buds?
Reply:I never water my geraniums. they are a mediterannean plant and require only natural watering (ie. rain) or some watering maybe once every couple of days in very hot weather. they are probably getting too much water! Mine flower profusely, constantly all year round. I have heaps of different varieties. I love them, I love the flowers, I love the smell of the leaves. I ALWAYS pick off the dead blooms though and that encourages new growth. I think you are killing them with kindness!
Reply:I have geraniums that flower continually throughout the season. They are heavy-bloomers, so you must deadhead and provide water and fertilizer regularly, especially if they are in pots.
Reply:Deadhead them by cutting the dead blooms where they come off the plant do not cut the plant, they usually snap right off, they are repeat bloomers.
Reply:You need to cut the dead blooms back to the base. This will encourage new blooms.make up

The passion flower has a biblical story represented by the petals and stamen does anybody know this story ?

yes

The story relates that in 1609 Jacomo Bosio, a monastic scholar, was working on his extensive treatise on the Cross of Calvary, when an Augustan friar, Emmanuel de Villegas, a Mexican by birth, arrived in Rome

Bosio’s passion flower shows the crown of thorns (corona filaments) twisted and plaited, the three nails (stigma) and the column of the flagellation just as they appear on ecclesiastical banners. He writes that the insides of the petals are tawny in Peru, but in New Spain they are white tinged with rose-pink, the crown of thorns having a blood red fringe, suggesting the ‘Scourge with which our blessed LORD was tormented’. He describes ‘the column [androgynophore] rising in the centre of the flower surrounded by the thorn of crowns, the three nails at the top of the column. In between, near the base of the column is a yellow colour about the size of a reale, in which there are five spots or stains [stamens] of the hue of blood evidently setting forth five wounds received by our LORD on the cross’.

Why are flower petals arranged in the golden ratio?

Flower petals and pinecones are two examples of spiral designs that use the Golden Ratio. Why this ratio of 1.618? This ratio provides the flower petals and leaves with maximum exposure to sunlight and allows rain drops to flow down to the root in the most effective manner. The sunflower positions its seeds in a Golden Ratio spiral because it is the most effective manner of having as many seeds in a given amount space possible and allowing them to remain un-crowded within that space.
Why are flower petals arranged in the golden ratio?
It has to do with how efficiently the petals can be placed. As the flower grows, its petals take up more room. The golden ratio makes it so the packing of the petals does not become too crowded in some areas and completely empty in others. The space that the plant has to work with is best optimized when the petals are arranged in the golden ratio.

Can a flower bed be built up around a tree trunk without damaging the tree?

A raised bed coving the trunk of the tree up to 6 to 12 inches high.
Can a flower bed be built up around a tree trunk without damaging the tree?
If it%26#039;s a large tree, yes, but still take care not to mound the soil up around the trunk too much. The moist soil could create mold, rot, and pest problems in the trunk of the tree.

If it%26#039;s a small tree, I%26#039;d advise against it. Your flower bed will pile soil on top of all of the feeder roots under the surface of the canopy or at the drip line. This could cause your tree to dry out %26amp; die if it can%26#039;t get the water due to the depth of the additional soil.
Reply:the best answer was by jeannephil1. They spoke the truth the whole truth and nothing but the truth. Root rot caused by raising the soil around a tree is a very popular way to kill a tree in urban areas Report It

Reply:I agree with %26quot;NO, no, no.%26quot;

Also, the canopy of the tree would hinder the availability of light.
Reply:sure.

The trees%26#039; root system extends well beyond the flower bed, so you%26#039;ll be fine.
Reply:Yes.
Reply:Yes you can do that. They also have other ways of doing it as well. So you do have different options.
Reply:NO! NO! NO! This is a common mistake. The depth of the roots should be the least of your worries. The trunk, though, is a big deal. Trunks should never be covered. If the trunk is covered more than a few inches, it will slowly rot, cutting off nutrients to the rest of the tree above. Nutrients run along the outer portion of the trunk just beneath the bark. The bark protects these avenues. Some %26quot;experts%26quot; say that a well can be used to keep the trunk in good shape. This hould be done only when you have no alternative, i.e. new home construction, etc. A drain should be used to quickly remove execess water after rains. If all you want is a new garden, try augmenting the soil that exists without raising the level much and keep soil away from the trunk or design the garden in another area. I hate the thought of losing a good tree, especially large shade trees. Good luck!c++

I have been told that i can get the seeds from the fruits on my passionflower, how do i do this?
My passion flower has lots of fruits,I wish to get seeds from them, How.?
just break it open you will see the seeds but you really wont need it. i found a wild passion fruit flower and transplanted it at my home the thing grows like a weed and dies every winter but come spring time they come back no problem and this all started with about a 6 inch piece now i have around a 10ft X 10ft area of nothing but Passion flowers they took over my tomatoes.that was 3 years ago and they are still going strong even after they die the next year they just pop back up. FYI
Reply:Make sure the fruit is ripe, then cut the fruit open, scrape out the seeds and plant them in some moist compost.Put them in a propogator in a light situation.
Reply:When the fruits are ripe cut them open and seperate the seeds. Let them dry clean them off and keep them in something like a paper bag so they can breath. Store them in a cool dry place until its time to plant them.
Reply:I agree with Tony about using the fruit and straight planting, but if you dry the seeds(breakopen pods and remove them) drying them yeilds more proliferous growth of flowers. Put them in newspaper and into an airing cupboard over the winter and plant them out in March/April.Or you can pot them up in february ready for transplanting when they are about 4/6 inches high
Reply:I tried planting the fruits in a pot of earth, but nothing came of them, and have since heard that you need to dry the fruits, for example by putting them in an airing cupboard. I haven%26#039;t tried this, but I did get good results by taking cuttings and popping them in jars on my windowsill until they grew roots.
Reply:You can wait until the fruit falls from the plant then break the fruit open and empty the seeds out onto kitchen towel. Put this in a warm dry place until the have all dried out. Then store them in a dry place until next spring before planting. If you are looking to do this purely to get more plants the easiest way is to take cuttings, this will be faster and more successful. What is flower pressing and how do you do it?

This works best with single petal flowers like pansies as opposed to roses -

The easiest and most inexpensive way is to pick the flower - put between two sheets of waxed paper and then insert into a very big book. Add weights to the book if you feel you need to - wait a couple of weeks - propably not even that long - and remove the flower. It should be dry and pressed and still colorful.
What is flower pressing and how do you do it?
Easiest cheapest way is with wax paper with books like everyone has said. You can also buy kits like from Big Yellow Box (a division of Crayola), that allow you to do it quickly in your microwave. May even be able to get some supplies from Hobby Lobby or Michael%26#039;s. Never tried it but my friend swears by it. I have always had good luck with the wax paper method though. My friend uses them on cards and has even decoupaged them onto plates and furniture (not sure if you have to add any other processes to preserve them when decoupaging). She makes the paper weights with them where you pour the clear stuff in a mold and it sets up. She adds them to her scrapbooks. There are thousands of crafts you can make with them.
Reply:Lyllyan is right. Using waxed paper is best. It will stop the moisture from ruining the book. I always place mine back in my bookcase to keep heavy pressure on the books with the flowers. For a flimsy flower, let it dry for 2 or 3 weeks. For thicker flowers, you may want to press it more slowly. Leave the book out with another book or two on it until it starts to flatten. After a week or two place it back in the bookcase for at least a month to finish flattening and drying it.
Reply:You%26#039;ll need 2 sheets of white newsprint:lay one inside an old phone book and place the flowers you want to press on the paper. Be careful to leave space between each flower and to arrange the flowers the way you want it to dry. Place the other sheet of newsprint on top of the flowers and VERY CAREFULLY close the phone book on the flowers, If you are doing multiple flowers be sure to leave 20-30 pages of the phone book between each layer of flowers. Stack heavy stuff on top of phone book and leave undisturbed for at least a week..longer if the airflow is bad where your flowerpress is located or if the humidity is high. Carefully lift flowers off paper after the week is up and frame them as desired.

Phonebooks work great for this just be sure to use a different area in the phone book for each batch of flowers and don%26#039;t reuse the same paper.Shoes
