Why is flower important to a plant?

The flower is the Plant%26#039;s reporoductive body:

The biological function of a flower is to mediate the union of male and female gametes in order to produce seeds. The process begins with pollination, is followed by fertilization, and continues with the formation and dispersal of the seed.

Why is flower important to a plant?
Flowers are important to a plant for reproduction. Some plants have huge colorful flowers which get pollinated by insects attracted by the nector and the huge colorful petals and when they land on the flower the pollen grains (male gamete) get attached to the insects and when the insect goes to another flower, is might drop them on the stigma and thats where the process of fertilization begins. You might have also seen flowers that are not so conspicuous but have long hairy extensions, well these are the pollen and this time they use the wind to spread the gamete to other plants....

Thanks........hope this helps
Reply:the flower is important to the plant because the flower holds pollen and that is what is needed to make more of that type of plant
Reply:The flower is the most conspicuous part of the plant. Their appeal has encouraged Man to know and possess them, developing such a human technique as gardening. But flowers have not been produced by plants for man%26#039;s sake. They

are beautiful and fragrant to attract pollinators ( insects, birds or bats) which play an important role in the reproductive process of pollinating. Essentially the main function of the flower is to perpetuate the species, to produce seeds from which new plants

will grow in the future.
Reply:My educated guess is that flowers attract the kinds of insects, birds and other creatures that aid reproduction by carrying pollen from plant to plant.
Reply:Hi Jessica,

According to me the flower is actually the reproductive part of the plant! It get the pollen and then produces the fruit which has inside it the seeds. For more detailed information you can go to wikiPedia - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flower
Reply:Um a flower is a plant.
Reply:i think you can compare the relation of a tree and its flowers to that of a woman and her womb. a woman needs a womb to fall pregnent and eventually have childern and reproduce. therefore, a tree needs flowers to help reproduce. the flowers would go through the pollenation period to reproduce as a woman would have sex to end up reproducing :)yahoo finance
