My passion flower has lots of fruits,I wish to get seeds from them, How.?
just break it open you will see the seeds but you really wont need it. i found a wild passion fruit flower and transplanted it at my home the thing grows like a weed and dies every winter but come spring time they come back no problem and this all started with about a 6 inch piece now i have around a 10ft X 10ft area of nothing but Passion flowers they took over my tomatoes.that was 3 years ago and they are still going strong even after they die the next year they just pop back up. FYI
Reply:Make sure the fruit is ripe, then cut the fruit open, scrape out the seeds and plant them in some moist compost.Put them in a propogator in a light situation.
Reply:When the fruits are ripe cut them open and seperate the seeds. Let them dry clean them off and keep them in something like a paper bag so they can breath. Store them in a cool dry place until its time to plant them.
Reply:I agree with Tony about using the fruit and straight planting, but if you dry the seeds(breakopen pods and remove them) drying them yeilds more proliferous growth of flowers. Put them in newspaper and into an airing cupboard over the winter and plant them out in March/April.Or you can pot them up in february ready for transplanting when they are about 4/6 inches high
Reply:I tried planting the fruits in a pot of earth, but nothing came of them, and have since heard that you need to dry the fruits, for example by putting them in an airing cupboard. I haven%26#039;t tried this, but I did get good results by taking cuttings and popping them in jars on my windowsill until they grew roots.
Reply:You can wait until the fruit falls from the plant then break the fruit open and empty the seeds out onto kitchen towel. Put this in a warm dry place until the have all dried out. Then store them in a dry place until next spring before planting. If you are looking to do this purely to get more plants the easiest way is to take cuttings, this will be faster and more successful.
